WHY TOOL TROLLEYS?
Any circular saw, router or other hand-held power tool can benefit from a straight line tool guidance system. When evaluating a product for purchase, what factors do you consider?
Whether a cabinetmaker, a journeyman, a construction worker or a do-it-yourself person what you are most likely looking for in a tool guide is light weight, durable, easy to use and portable. It has to reach the full length of the cut and make an accurate cut. Integral clamps, Rail Stops and positioning gage enhance the cutting process. If these are the type of requirements you would apply then Tool Trolleys are the obvious answer.
The Universal Tool Trolley Modular Tool Guide System provides a simple and versatile solution ensuring straight cuts with your circular saw, router or other hand held power tools providing the accuracy and dependability that you expect in a quality tool guide.
The beauty of the Tool Trolley Modular Tool Guide System is that you don't have to purchase components or features that you do not need. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a matching saw. If you are not going to use the Tool Guide System with a router, you don't have to purchase a Router Trolley. You purchase the minimum that you need for the least cost to you. You can add additional lengths of Duplex Rails, Mounting Plates and other accessories at a later date, when needed.
The following addresses the features that have been designed into Tool Trolleys and includes a brief discussion of the benefits to you the user.
| Easy to Use |
To use place it on the track, line up your cutting gage marks, clamp it down and slide it down the rail. Portable -- No need to hassle heavy and long rails. Tool Trolley rails break down into 30" sections. Seven sections (17 1/2 feet long) fit into a 5 " x 5 " x 30" box. Use two rail section if your crosscutting a 4 x 8' sheet of plywood, use 4 sections of rail to rip an 8' long work piece. Sections can be added to attain any length of cut. If you are trimming the edge of decking, or cutting a design in your concrete patio and need 15 or 20 or more feet of rail, you simply add additional 30" rail sections to achieve the required cutting length. Read more about the rail in the Duplex Rail Web Page. |

Accessories: Rail Clamp, Rail Gage, Rail Stop, Rail Stabilizer

Tool Trolley Rail Clamp enables attachment at the end, on the side, and across the center of a work piece, on a floor or wall; wherever you need one. Rail clamps have a slideable feature that enables extending the cut beyond the physical length of the guide rail. The Rail Stop limits the extent of travel on the rail. Rail Gage accurately positions the guide rail relative to the cut-line. Rail Stabilizer improves the flex of the rail from 0.030-inches over a ten foot span to less than 0.010-inches. |
| More than just sheet goods | Cabinetry joint making is simplified when using router trolley. Mortise & tenon, sliding dovetail, edge shaping and jointing are just a few of the types of cabinet joints that can be easily made using the Router Trolley. |
| Multiple Configurations | Tool Trolleys come in various configurations to fit your job-specific needs: can be used with one rail when the work piece is lying flat or can be used in a dual track configuration if you prefer a panel saw vertically mounted on a wall rack or storage rack. |
| Adaptable | Tool Trolley Track Saw being tested. Are you cutting very large sheet goods and your operator has difficulty reaching across to make the cut with a circular saw? The Tool Trolley Track Saw may be the answer. The Track Saw uses a dual track configuration along with a variable speed capstan drive system that lets you make long difficult cuts hands free and nearly dust free. The Track Saw is undergoing shop and field-testing. Availability - Summer of 2010. See short video of Track Saw set up with 12-feet of rail. CLICK HERE |
| Duplex Rail | The steel alignment dowels and draw-tight connector act to stiffen the butt joint keeping the rigidity of the rail making it possible to extend the rail to any length and still be assured of a straight cut. |
| Customer Satisfaction | A Decorative Concrete Contractor from Portland Oregon purchased a HDPE Trolley with 17.5 feet of rail to complete a checkerboard pattern that had to be cut into his customer's garage floor. A week later we received an email with a picture of the finished floor and his comment that "the system worked flawlessly. as you can see from the photo it came out perfect and the customer is happy." |
Assembles in just minutes -- tool attaches with four machine screws, cam-locked disks and wing nuts
This photograph shows the straightness of four rail sections joined together (two 50" and two 30" rails). Testing demonstrated that the flex in the center of a 100-inch span was nominally 0.030 inches with 10 lbs. of lateral force applied. The flex can be improved to less than 0.010 inches by use of rail stabilizers placed between 1/3 to ½ of the length of the rail for rail lengths exceeding 10-feet.
