What do Professionals Look for in a Tool Guide?
We decided to let the experts tell us what they look at as Key Performance Areas for clamp on tool guides. One of our sources was the October 2005 article on Clamp-On-Guides by Better Homes and Gardens Wood magazine. We will let Wood Magazine say it for us:

How can we get this type of performance out of a lightweight rail that doesn't carry the mass and weight of say the EZ Smart System? The answer comes in the shape of the rail and the method of joining rail segments. |

The duplex tubular shaped rail uses two steel dowel pins inserted one into each tube and drawn tight with our draw-tight bolt and nut. The resultant joint is more rigid than the original rail without a joint. This means if you need to make a 12 or 20-foot or any length cut, you will get a straight edge commensurate with the length of cut. |

The Rail Clamp and Rail Stop make using the Universal Tool Trolley a breeze to use. Simply place a rail clamp on the rail opposite the side where the Trolley is placed. Slide the Rail Clamp up to your work piece and position the L-bolt under your work piece and with a simple turn of a wingnut the Rail Clamp is attached. |

| The versatility of this unique Rail Clamping System is just beginning to be realized. For example, if your work piece is longer than the length of your rail just make the cut approaching the Rail Clamp; stop the saw leaving the saw in place, loosen the perpendicular L-bolt and slide the rail through the Rail Clamp the amount needed to complete the cut. Either add another Rail Clamp or relocate the Rail Clamp that was removed from the starting end of the rail. | |

Universal Tool Trolley provides a full size carriage on which to directly mount a circular saw or router or you have the option of using dedicated mounting plates for each tool. |
